The artwork stunningly represents the famous Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, located in Naples.

This medieval castle is an iconic symbol of the city and a testament to its rich history and culture. Il Mollettaio skillfully and creatively used wooden clothespins to recreate the distinctive architectural details of Castel Nuovo.

Each clothespin has been placed with millimetric precision to depict the walls, towers, battlements, and various decorative elements of the castle. The clothespins become the stones of the walls and towers, while the arches and windows are crafted with remarkable mastery. 

Dating back to the 13th century, Castel Nuovo has a long and complex history, having witnessed numerous historical events.

It once served as the residence of the Angevin and Aragonese kings and today houses important art collections and museums.

Through this artwork made entirely of wooden clothespins, the artist pays tribute to the historical and cultural significance of Castel Nuovo.
